DECA
DECA (Distributive Education Clubs of America) is an international, non-profit organization designed to help students build their knowledge and expertise in topics like marketing, finance, business administration, hospitality & tourism, and entrepreneurship. At Rancho Bernardo High School, we are proud to have re-established our DECA chapter, with 16 members in our very first year back. We want to continue building the business program at our school and prepare our students for future success in these fields.

Our mission:
At RBHS DECA, we aim to help students learn the many aspects of the business industry and apply these skills in the real world. DECA is a co-curricular club, meaning students will have to be enrolled in a business class in order to participate in official DECA competitions. Our goal is to expand the business program here at our school through adding more business-centered courses to the school's curriculum . With the 2025-26 school year being the first year of the chapter's return, we also want our students to have the preparation they need to succeed in DECA competitions.
Is enrollment in a business class necessary for DECA participation?
Yes. DECA requirements state that for a student to be legible to compete in DECA competitions, they must be either currently enrolled in or have already finished a CTE pathway (taken several business classes). However, students can join DECA to learn about business without being enrolled in the class.
How much does it cost to participate with DECA?
The cost for each member is $50 per year. However, there are additional costs for competitions. Mini-conferences range between $10-30, and attending DECA Districts and States Conferences range from $500-800 per person due to hotel and transportation costs.
